The blog isn’t over with! I swear!
September 5, 2007 by veronica.
Life did not end when I became Veronica, CD(DONA). It ended when I went back to work full-time.
Since July, I have attended 5 births (4 in a 3 week span of time), taught my class, and had a bridge collapse (which just freaks me out when I drive in Hastings). I got a job at OMC as a Childbirth Educator (because heck, I’ve done most of the work on my own), and said goodbye to my live-in sister (whom we miss very much).
The worst part of the past month has been the floods that hit SE MN pretty hard 2 1/2 weeks ago. Sure, it could have been worse, but we did end up with water in the basement…which led to us ripping out the carpet…which led to ripping out the whole basement. At that point (this past Sunday), we found out that water damage had gone all the way up the walls to the ceiling panels, so it ALL came out. We then had mold to kill, paint to chip, and general crappiness down there. It REALLY has sucked. I keep trying to tell myself that we needed to do it anyway, but DAMN IT (Insert spectacular explicative here) , this SUCKS!!!!!!!! So, yeah, rain…bite me.
On the plus side…we met Al Franken on Saturday. I have a picture on my cell phone to prove it (oh, and he signed something for Lily, too.) He was very, very nice. He gave me a nice hug-ish squeeze. I liked him. I’ll vote for him. Not just because of the hugging, but because I liked the epilogue to his last book. If he meant what he wrote, I’m in because it sounds AWESOME.
But flooding? Flooding SUCKS.
